I don’t think you are going to change the opinions of one Bush crony with reason. I for one won’t even try. But, I've done my venting a couple of days ago. The truth about the negativity surrounding this campaign is that there are strong reasons to dislike Bush for what he has done or not done in the last four years than in his previous life. Some of the ignorant are brainwashed to the point that they passionately hate Kerry for no good reason. As you said, it is the power of propaganda. A majority of these ignorant are boneheaded in their beliefs (I have one in the family) that even if they are shown a video of Bush in his true colors, they will not believe it. Not only that, they will think that democrats have doctored it with look a likes or make believes. The only make believe is the phony Bush. Remember the jump suit he wore and landed on the aircraft carrier proclaiming that mission accomplished? Not only that is a cheap stunt but think about it for a second: how many democratically elected leaders put the military uniform and a show like that? I haven't seen any in my life time or know of many before I was born. But I have seen the following wearing a military uniform and tried to impress masses with a few military drills. Col. Gaddafi (sp) (Libya) – Military Dictator, not elected Gen. Yahya Khan (Pakistan) – Military Dictator, not elected Gen Gia (Pakistan) – Military Dictator, not elected Gen. Musharaff (Pakistan) – Military Dictator, not elected Saddam Hussain (Iraq) - Dictator, not elected. And... (drum roll please) Herr Hitler was the only elected man I know of who pulled such stunts. Then again, Bush was democratically "appointed," not elected! Hitler's propaganda machine was powerful enough to brainwash teenage kids turning in their parents to the Nazis. The GOP propaganda machine thus far is successful in achieving the following among a good chunk of the population: 1. Anybody who disagrees with a right-wing extremist is unpatriotic. By extension, anybody who questions BuNey cronies is a traitor. 2. People who are intelligent enough to think on their own are communists and liberals. 3. Any news outlet that doesn't endorse their backward way of thinking is "liberal media." FYI, I haven't seen a bigger myth than the so called "liberal media" - yet, there are people, several with Ph.D.s, believe it! I haven't seen the Nazi style phenomenon where kids turning in their parents who questioned the Nazi propaganda. But a letter to the editor in the Time magazine (or some other weekly) gave me chills along my spine. I am not sure if he/she saw Fahrenheit 9/11. But he/she said that the mother of the soldier from Flint, MI (whose story was highlighted in the documentary) has disgraced her son’s memory by questioning Bush. Hello, these guys are now second guessing a mother’s feelings towards her son’s death. Good day.
