Kerry was gilding the lilly for sure! I agree. I would like to point out that 4 sets of specific map coordinates are given for the locations of all three swiftboats. According to Kerry's reported coordinates, all three Swiftboats were on-line and operating in an area 100 Meters wide. Specifically that means all 3 boats were on a narrow football field together. That tears at the argument you had to be on Kerry's boat to know what happened. Another interesting detail. The AA Report mentions UDT 13. Kerry has often spoken of his work with SEALS, Special Forces and USMC. And UDT 13 is mentioned in Kerry's 1st SS citation. Yet in the 2nd and 3rd SS citations, UDT 13 has been removed from the narrative. I visualize one possibility. UDT 13 was not present at all. And Kerry feared someone pointing that out eventually, so he deleted them from the citation. Also noticed his claim that a US led 30 man RFPF patrol went one mile inland after enduring a near ambush. I don't believe that for a second. 100-200 meters...maybe. One mile with no reserve, no air and no artillery...never. Another point. The boats were carrying RFPF with US advisors. There is no way UDT 13 or SEAL 1 (It was a SEAL 1 AO) would operate with RFPF troops. It would be like asking Green Berets to fight alongside Cub Scouts. There is more, lots more. The B40 incident reminded me that in one photo I've seen of Kerry, he is carrying an M16 and something else. I forget if it was a B40 an M79 or a LAW. I only recall it had that tubular shape and I do not recall seeing a rocket/grenade attached. Do you recall it? I ask because if it was an unloaded B40, it negates his claim to have shot an armed enemy. I would be convinced he executed an unarmed and badly wounded VC. On second thought... Gilding the lily is being too polite. Kerry was bagging bullshit for his boss. uw
