I just figured out how Les Moonves, the President of CBS, can save CBS news. When he fires Rather, he can hire Bernard Goldberg, his former newsman and author of, Bias A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News, as the new anchor.

OK now, everybody take a deep breath. :>)

First off, Rather is going to have to go. It is going to be a mortal blow to CBS. They are already number three in network news. This destroys their credibility. If they bring in one of their "Rather clones," it won't help them. They need to do a complete "mea culpa" and turnaround.

The shock of installing Goldberg would make it the biggest media story of the year, and overshadow Rather's going. The effect on the public would be terrific.

If they did it, I think they would vault to number one in network news.
