I loved Cryptonomicon also..

I actually gave a copy to my computer tech guru, thinking he would like it. At the time I didn't know he was
an extremely religious person...

When I asked what he thought of the book, he hemmed and hawed and said he "uh....had trouble discerning the moral compass, and had to set it aside"

still makes me chuckle.

OT - Sounds like we have similar tastes Zonder - I loved Diamond Age & Snow Crash, and don't care much for his latest baroque stuff. Although no where near as polished as his latter works I also liked Zodiac. I found Big U interesting in places but wildly uneven and ultimately tiresome.

Let me know who else you'd recommend in this genre (you can PM if you'd like)- Thanks
