You take a principled and admirable stand -- I wish more people who claim to act on principle actually upheld the principles they use to justify their actions. My concern with Iraqi civilians is that they are being killed -- it seems to me that we are far from the position we claim to hold. We do not "target" civilians, we just kill them with impunity when it is expedient. It is this relatively casual killing of thousands of people that extends a form of hypocracy -- we say we are acting on behalf of other people and kill them at will if they are standing on the street when the mood strikes us to fire a rocket into a crowded street, or bomb a house. I see this as a war for heart and minds -- killing is not going to win this war.
