Poet, hello - S2 sent your article by E.L. Doctorow to me. It was powerful. I have two angles of view on Bush. As a veteran, I hope Doctorow is wrong...but I don't think he is. One of the greatest attributes of a soldier and leader is empathy - without empathy you cannot lead effectively and are not deserving of it. As a "CEO" type president, which I think Bush tries to be, he has one breath taking flaw - lack of curiosity. All the great CEO's have had bottomless curiosity and continuously learn as a result of it. What's in the man soul?...I don't really know....watching what he does, makes me angry and sad. When I scrape away all the veneer and rhetoric, I have one very basic question.....would I want him as my platoon leader? Phuck no! Hope things are going well for you - let's get out the vote!
