re: Iraq is a failure and they are responsible.

How long ago was it that we both agreed we had lost this war? Well, there is probably nothing worse than continueing to fight a war that you have lost. Our leaders are thowing away our kids lives everyday, because they don't have the guts to admit they were wrong. Politics trumps soldiers lives.

Hi tejek,

I'll repost here something I posted on the Cisco thread awhile ago...

Anyway, you say, "Anybody can see this iraq mess is a failure."

I don't see that. In fact, it is the first attempt in 50 years to democratize the Middle East. No one can judge the failure or success of Iraq until another 10 years has passed. If 10 years from now, Iraq is ruled by another thug terrorist like Saddam or is ruled by Islamic fanatics in the form of a theocracy like in Iran, then we can all judge it to be a failure. But if 10 years from now, you have a pluralist government, that gets rotated out peacefully through an election mechanism, and isn't hostile to the rest of the world, then we can judge Iraq to have been a success.

Anyone claiming Iraq is a failure today is so incredibly short sighted, it's laughable. In fact, I'm laughing bitterly right now, because I know many people in America share your point of view. Thank God for the way this country is structured. When America is at it greatest point of danger, the people with the will and foresight to defend her seem to always rise to power. Thank God for that. If we were all so liberal minded and refused to fight for the spread of freedom from fascism in all it's forms including today's fascist terrorists, then this country would already look a lot like France and Europe would be called Greater Nazi Germany.
