I am a total skeptic about everything in this world that I can not personally validate, and I consider that to be a completely honest position to take.

"What you were less than honest about was doubting the integrity of 60 MINUTES. "

60 minutes has a very good record of demonstrated journalistic integrity. They have earned our respect for the rigorous methods they use to check their sources and the level of diligence behind their investigations. They are not, however, infallible. Rather is clearly biased in his politics and it is perfectly reasonable for an honest man to doubt a partisan attack lead by Rather in light of credible challenges to the source data.

"There is not a shred of evidence that they did or said anything wrong ...

There is a huge volume of evidence coming from people claiming to be experts that bring the documents used by Rather into question. That does not, so far, prove the documents were forged. Even if we find out that they were forged it does not convict Rather or CBS of wrong doing. It would simply show that some things can slip past even the best tests.

I have been completely honest and being willing to doubt evidence presented by partisans is essencial to maintain personal honesty especially in light of contradictory claims.
