It sure is time that somebody applied the fruits of Moore's law to 20- and 30-year-old dinosaur file-system concepts.

I agree, that's exciting especially if it's patent-protected and genuinely close to shipping for revenue.

However, right now it's still a press release. Dated today. Time will tell.

Edit: I remember reading an article 25 or 30 years ago in the ACM SIGOPS Operating Systems Review where Butler Lampson described a far-future file system that assumed disk space was literally free. No deletions were ever done because there was no cost to keeping things around forever. This ZFS thing has a tiny bit of that flavor.
