Yet, Al Qaeda has been decimated by Bush's War on Terror. Al Qaeda has been decimated by two things. 1-the war on Afghanistan (remove their safe haven), and 2-the pressure on Saudis to clean up their Islamic charities' contributions to Al Qaeda-related groups (remove their funds). #1 is a war on Afghanistan, #2 is diplomatic pressure. Neither is a "War on Terror". Bush's War on Terror is a misused catch-phrase. Justifying every action of the Bush administration as part of a larger "War on Terror" just confuses things. Nations don't go to war against concepts. Bush's War on Terror will not go on for 10-20 years, it will exit the national jargon as soon as Bush is out of office. Elroy

The simple fact is the war [on terror] has been a RESOUNDING success. If your only justification for this comment is that we have not had another terrorist attack on US soil, as has been pointed out previously, an empirical look would suggest that there is not enough evidence for such a position given that al Qa'ida has hit the US only twice in 11 years and the last attack was only three years ago. As for terrorism in the world, the war on terror has been a resounding failure.
