David, The War on Terror will end in January if Bush loses.

And then restart once we get attacked, then fade away, then restart, then fade away ...

a Republican winner will continue the war, a liberal will give up.

You've fallen for the Bush administration's poor labeling of their activities. There is no such thing as a "War on Terror", unless you believe in the possibility of a "War on Ignorance" and a "War on Illegally Parked Cars" and a "War on Disease". Terror, ignorance, illegally parked cars and disease are all things to campaign against, not to declare war on. The best way to fight against these things are to demonstrate the success of their opposites (security, education, properly parked cars and health), it is not to bomb something.

Nations and revolutionary militaries fight wars on each other, not on concepts. There is no "War on Terror" outside of Bush's marketing campaign for his administration's policies.

It has been clear since the inception that the real war is against liberals who have short memories.

This may be your war. I don't want my country involved in your war.

The war in Iraq is over, as is the war in Afghanistan.

Current efforts in these two countries are to police them and provide security for their pro-democratic regime. I don't want the US to become policemen of the world's failed states. The US should make a reasonable effort to allow those two countries to get back on their feet, and leave them to themselves ASAP.
