how did DNC put out seemingly coordinated adds attacking Bush on his NG service?

They move fast, and could have put the ad together quickly. I suspect CBS news staffers are talking to Kerry staffers. You would never be able to prove it.

if Burkett is the source and he's a lone disgruntled NG figure and not a demo operative --

If he, and some of the group of disgruntled folks, have been trying in 1994, 1998, 2000, and now 2004, as one of the articles stated....

Maybe someone finally is paying them to dig (or make up as they go...) as in fake documents.
