Totally agree with your post, JB! I said to my husband tonight that maybe sometime in the future, we would have newspapers, but different than now. Maybe a very small NEWS section (True news...no adjectives, and adverbs, no bylines...), and then a MUCH bigger OPINION section, with all sorts of bylines and all sorts of opinions.

Most of us would be happy then.

FOX has a similar format. Brit Hume tries to stay for part of the program with just news. Then part of the program is for opinion, and interviews of several newsmakers of the day/week. Hannity and Colmes are commentators, and interviewers, with someone giving a "headline news" for 5 minutes every half hour.

People like Rather and CBS haven't separated out fact from fiction, nor do they make any attempt at being unbiased.
