I agree we won the war. But, the question is "knowing what we know now, did we have to go to war and/or did we have a better way to achieve our objectives?".

Think of the ME as a snakepit. If you had one outside your house, would you kill the snakes one at a time as them came in the door, or go clean out the snakepit? That's what we are doing. It is messy, and you have to use a "trial and error" approach. We "burn while we learn" how to do it. There will be American troops in the ME from now on.

But it's the only way to go that makes sense to me.

I am also willing to bet that Karl Rove will not allow him to say that he made a mistake

I'd take that bet. Bush thought Iraq was a necessary war, and he still does. I just heard one of his friends (a NY Democrat, btw) say so on Charlie Rose. Karl Rove has nothing to do with Iraq policy.

"I am willing to bet that Bush could win re-election more easily by saying we made a mistake in going to war. I listened to the wrong people. I will not make the same mistake again."

WRONG

You don't get it. We are in a long term WAR on terror(Islam). Afganistan and Iraq are just the begining. Fasten your seat belts because it is going to get really nasty.
