>> WHY to both questions

I assume that the heavy buying volume relates to it being added to the TSX composite and gold indexes (index funds need to add the shares by Friday when it is part of these indexes). I don't know how long this buying demand will continue, or to what extent, but I expect the price to fall back when it abates. People familiar with the stock know that it has experienced brief surges on a few occasions that have lost momentum and turned out to have been good selling opportunities. Also, I am selling because in spite of recent good news at the Galore Creek site, I consider the stock to be finally fairly priced. I was really excited about the stock in the $3-6 Cdn range over the last 14 months, but at $8 I think that it is no longer cheap given their stage of development, not to say it does not have excellent properties and excellent management. If the price goes back to $7, I will be buying back.
