It is, as McNamara said, the mistake of acting unilaterally that set us up for failure

Even if we assume for the sake of argument that it is or will be a failure, your neglecting the fact that we didn't act unilaterally and your neglecting to provide any argument that involvement of the UN or any other international organization would be a panacea.
