GST, there you go again. If a big tough ape threatens to kill, that defines reality. So, the USA for example, could simply declare all countries to be part of the USA. Any that say they are not, simply kill them all. The USA has the megatons to do that easily. Ipso facto, all countries would be part of the USA.

Okay, you believe that might makes right and let's face it, nature has sympathy with that idea. I can go along with that and do! In my daily life, I accept many imposts on my freedom simply because the government, which has the power, the police, the guns, prisons, courts etc, declares that what I want to do is illegal. Not that what I want to do would create any victims, they just want to be the boss. Property can't be freely traded, I can't own all sorts of things, I have to do this that and the other.

The USA has taken over Iraq in what the UN leader says was an illegal process. But as King George II scoffs, "international law", pass me my lawyers. I don't see any particular reason why Saddam should be the boss of Iraq instead of King George II on the might makes right principle. You are quite right to take over Iraq. Well done.

You could have Saudi Arabia too. Just declare that it is part of the USA and the oil rightfully belongs to King George II and threaten to nuke them if they don't comply or if they even dare say they are independent. Then start sucking the oil. Simple and fully compliant with the laws of nature and also the processes by which the oil was owned by Saddam and the Saudis, so it's even fair and square.

I agree with that. The oil, a natural resource, should be shared among as many people on the planet as possible and the USA has nearly 300 million people and is doing lots of stuff for people around the world, such as supply the MSFT and QCOM technology I use every day, and a lot more besides. USA! USA! USA!

Look at Japan. Since the USA nuked them, they've been as good as can be and doing very well for themselves too. Just threaten to do the same to everyone else on Earth unless they forthwith adopt a copy of the Japanese constitution.

The USA might as well start with China and Taiwan to nip that little problem in the bud.

Might makes right. Stuff that ethics stuff. To hell with freedom. Down with democracy. Out with the individual. To the glory of the state and power. Power. Hooray for Hitler.

USA! USA! USA!

Independent countries may refrain from doing or stating certain things under threat from another country. Mongolia or North Korea might be influenced by China to do something that they don't really want to do, that doesn't make them part of China. The US certainly has pressured or forced other countries to act or not to act in certain ways in the past, that didn't make these countries part of the US.

The simple fact is China does not and can not make law in Taiwan. It can threaten Taiwan with nuclear annihilation but it doesn't rule Taiwan, and the current government in China has never ruled Taiwan.

<<Perhaps this will help: If Taiwan is truly independent and is truly able to do as it pleases because it is truly not under the control of Beijing, and if Taiwan truly wants to be an independent country, then Taiwan should be able to say "we are independent". But they can't, because if they do, they are dead.>>

Ok, lets say I'll shoot my wife dead if she acts on her own. Is that right. Oops, she just bought a new car. I'll use you as an argument when I go to trial.

""Taiwan, today, is under the control of Beijing, and is, and is broadly and widely understood by all interested parties to be, an inseparable part of China.""

What if Taiwan ever find some oil fields or mines that are very important to all? Did you change your mind? :-) Will you find a reason that Taiwan is not a part of China for Taiwanese? :-)
