If they would just say that Kerry is a good guy because he's anti-war, that would make sense, although it would make it hard for him to win.

This all comes from spinning Kerry to the Dem base as being really like Howard Dean, but macho enough to beat George Bush. Anti-war, but warlike. Fits Kerry to a T, but even a brilliant candidate couldn't overcome the contradictions inherent in that strategy.

They want to claim the high ground on both sides of their
talking points regarding Vietnam & Iraq. even though their
positions on them are seriously conflicting. They want
everyone to focus solely on each point as it is made, to
the complete exclusion of the other conflicting positions.
