Did I say that? NO! Don't put words in my mouth. But by the same token the Chechens didn't stop terrorism because of the Iraq war, nor did Al Qaeda.

War is not the end all answer to terror. Military means can be used effectively against pocket of terrorists. But in the case of Iraq it was used to topple a dictator, not against terrorists. Bush wants you to believe that it's part of the war on terror...and many people do believe that.

To my mind it was not an effective use of military power. In fact it will continue to drain us until we either blitz the place or get out all together. It's become a quagmire where the troop strength is inadequate and Bush is frozen against increasing the troops there or pulling them out. Kerry is calling for a temporary increase in troop strength in the short term, more international troops in the long term, and a withdrawal of US troops when the situation is normalized.
