Yes, it's indeed amazing Bush Sr lacked the integrity to write, "Thank you for the compliment on my son, but believe many of your other students are equally as deserving a compliment under your fine leadership."

A person should know how to deflect a suck-up attempt and place the attention back onto the people, not the privileged.
