There is no evidence, that I've seen, indicating Bush received "preferential treatment". But if he did, it wasn't substantive. The guy was a trained fighter pilot, served, and based on the available evidence (which includes an Honorable Discharge) served admirably. Some have argued that Bush leapfrogged to the front of the line, but as G. Liddy has pointed out, there WAS NO LINE of credentialed people willing to be Guard fighter pilots. This is politics. Yes, its the politics of the rich and privileged in this country. Its speaks to the heart of the objections against Bush. Not only is he the product of overt pampering and privilege but he reminds us of it as often as he can. And he's managed to suck in many of you who will never be so rich or pampered or privileged. All because of tax cuts!
