<The scientists and your government has said we need an oxygenator in the gas.>
That is why this is a political discussion topic. Depending on which scientist you ask, ethanol derived from corn is either a source or a sink for energy. It is a source for VOC when used in gasahol and VOCs are the rate limiting part of smog. It increases pollution.

So, shockingly enough, the federal government, has forced states to use additional energy to create more pollution. To get votes from the farmers. Sadly, the California EPA has been forced to fall in line and use ethanol in gasoline.

I am not interested in the dollar cost of a bushel of corn, the issue is how much energy it takes to grow, harvest, transport, ferment, triple distill, and transport again. If this is more than the energy derived from burning the ethanol, it is simply a huge energy destroying boondoggle that makes the US ever more dependent on foreign sources of energy/oil.

i am very familiar with corn price charts over time. back in 1995 through 1997 corn was quite a bit above $3.00 almost all that time. corn peaked during that cycle at about $5.50. corn Has been steady and lower cost for the past several years. however trend corn and you will see higher lows and higher highs since 2001. corn is going to get expensive again over the coming years. just my opinion.

now, are you changing the subject from corn prices to mtbe?? don't confuse simple guys such as i. mtbe has already been banned by congress, AFTER congress mandated its use years ago.
