Until there was a "United States" they were killing members of the legitimate government here. remember "That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it" Do you think that it would be possible to abolish any form of government if the people are weaponless? An armed population tends to keep the government honest.
