Much like with Russia, Reagan claimed that Nicaragua's Ortega and his communism was a threat to the US. There was no Cold war. It was all made up. There were never any Communist threat. It was all made up as part of Republican plot to win elections. Even JFK (the real one, not the pretender) fell for it. And Stalin? Like Castro and Ortega, he was just a land reformer. The biggest threats to this country have been LBJ, Nixon, Reagan and Jr. The rest, like Castro, Ortega and Saddam, were boogie men devised to keep the GOP faithful up at night. In 1965, we had enough nuclear missiles to destroy the world several times over. If that is not a major deterrent to foreign aggression, I don't know what is. However, there is a portion of the population that buys into this communism/Arabic nonsense. And then, its spun and spun by mostly GOP leaders until they become hugely frightening images to be parlayed into movies, magazines, comic books, and children's toys. Its gotten so bad, we have a knee jerk reaction to any potential. Americans knew that Bush was doing the invasion of Iraq all wrong but there fear, conjured up and encouraged by Bush, became so palpable, they went along with his insanity. "Oh my God......Saddam has nukes! He hangs with al Qa'ida! He was behind 9/11!" Such absurdities. Get a grip, Joe.....you are not a kid any more. Stop getting sucked into the BS. You are smarter than that.
