Carter did not blunder into a costly war from which there is no escape, allow a 9-11 to happen and drive us 2 trillion deeper into debt. Carter was not an effective president but the problems in the Gulf with the oil embargo started developing long before he was in office. He was, in effect, very unlucky. The Reaganite oil company CIA types were also involved in a lot of hanky-panky, like their OCtober Surprise which promised the Iranians goodies if they'd hold onto the hostges until Reagan could beat Carter. No, Bush is far worse than Carter and even worse than LBJ. AT least LBJ had the decency to step down after he lied and blundered to get us into a major war.
