I agree that Kerry's positions are hard to discern. He is not just too nuanced, he's too much like your Uncle Bert who rambles on and on and never seems to say anything, simply just stringing words together. However, with some study, Kerry's positions become clearer and more reasonable. I don't know why he makes it so hard for us to know where he stands.

So, I look at Bush. Does he deserve reelection based on his real results? Not even close. I can't think of a single area of his responsibility that has not come out poorly. War on terrorism, national security, international diplomacy, international standing and respect, economy, environment, fiscal responsibility, health care, education, social issues, protection of freedom. None of these areas are better than when he took office, and some are considerably worse.

It baffles me why people support Bush. I think that it is primarily due to fear; fear of terrorism, fear of another 9/11, fear of change, fear of foreigners, even fear of fear - no one wants to feel like we did on 9/11. But, that fear is blinding them to the results of Bush's term. We are less safe, and have more to fear, than we did on 9/11.
