Spin is "[t]o provide an interpretation of (a statement or event, for example), especially in a way meant to sway public opinion: 'a messenger who spins bogus research into a vile theology of hatred” (William A. Henry III)."

dictionary.reference.com

It's a pol's job to sway public opinion; it is the public's job to think rationally and to judge the "spin" by applying critical faculties.

In that sense of the word, I do not object to spin. It gives me a viewpoint, a perspective I can either reject, adopt or modify to the reality I perceive.

Perhaps I've been a lawyer too long. We see things from all angles as a matter of course, reaching judgments only after thoroughly examining all the spin and the available facts.

I guess I'm immune to it.

Money? Yes, agreed. We need to do something about campaign financing. The 527s are a good place to start.
