Ted, I love your conspiracy theories. I am sure it was a mole deep in the DNC that fabricated those memos. I think you should call Gillespie asap and let him know your theory!

Relax, Ted. I think the possibility of the DNC forging those memos is remote. But CBS sure isn't willing to investigate that possibility, and they're definitely not going to go any further than the notion that Burkett himself was also "duped."

In fact, CBS is installing a panel to investigate how they go duped. I am sure you will think its a kangaroo court but, in reality, its a preparatory step to firing Rather. Until CJ brought it up, I did not realize that Rather and the Bush family have had a running feud. It looks like he might have let his emotions interfere with his work. If so, he made a very stupid mistake.

In any case, that's how it works with an institution that is concerned with journalistic standards.

And save your deprecatory remarks.

It's plain and obvious. CBS places CYA well above their so-called duty to uncover the truth. Instead of rebuilding their reputation, they choose to hope that people will simply forget. And forget they will, just like the Sandy Berger flap.

Just as you are wrong in your choice of president so are you wrong on that one too. [see above]
