And Danny boy told us they got the memos from
an "unimpeachable source", which we now know is Bill
Burkett.

Now how is he going to explain that one away?

OOH, DAN, YOU GONNA PAY FOR THAT ONE
KERRYSPOT

The verdict is in, or more specifically, flooding my e-mail box. Dan didn’t placate the Pajamahadeen. He just made ‘em mad.

Kerry Spot readers have received some more responses from CBS affiliates. From one in South Carolina:

We are forwarding all the complaints to CBS News and have also asked viewers to register their complaints on CBS News.com as well. Registering your concern on line is helpful since CBS, at times, will respond quicker to viewer complaints.
We want you to know that [our affiliate] is making sure that your frustration with the network is being registered with CBS.

From one in Indiana:

I am sorry to hear that you are associating the integrity of CBS News with [our affiliate]. I assure you, this is not the case. We understand that several people at CBS News are responsible for poor decisions and questionable journalistic practices in regards to the memos (CBS is having a press conference today with an apology). However, [our station] never reported this story as fact. We did follow the story due to the questionable background of the memos. But we remained impartial due to the fact that we personally had no way of proving anything true or false. We are a CBS affiliate. One poor decision, albeit a very large one, does not negate this, and we will continue to be a CBS affiliate. I am sorry to say that you will be watching less of the local news, as I do not feel that this warrants that action.
One from Oklahoma:

Thanks for your comments regarding CBS and their 60 Minutes report. I will pass your comments on to the network just as we have with the thousands of others. Thanks for watching.
Kerry Spot reader Clark reports:

Talked to the CBS affiliate in my hometown. They are getting deluged with calls. After giving them my comments and assuring me they would pass them along they provided me with a number at CBS. I called the number (212) 975 -4321 and after it ringing about 20 times they picked up. When I told them that I had a complaint they forwarded me to an answering machine. I left my comments with them. Could you pass this on? Let's get headquarters inundated with calls and complaints too, not just the affiliates.
Many, many affiliates are now distributing the statements from Rather and CBS News. Find contact numbers for CBS affiliates here.

Burkett's admission is essentially a guilty plea to a federal felony. The Feds can hammer him if they want. Jail is not a good way for an old man to spend up to 10 years of his remaining life.
