The simple fact is that the fiasco in Iraq has reduced the President's ability to use military force everywhere in the world. If we're not winning, then we're wasting lives and losing opportunities. After 18 months, it's clear we're not winning.

Hawks may want to get out because they want to attack Iran (or threaten to attack Iran), but being in Iraq, our forces are highly vulnerable to retaliation. Getting out of Iraq will facilitate an attack on Iran (not an invasion, of course, but a bombing of the Russian nuclear reactor and other sites).

Carl, you rely on an article by NOVAK that says Bush will pull out of Iraq?

Interesting timing. Kerry is attacking on Iraq and the Cheney/Bush pet journalist hints that Bush, not Kerry, will end the war.

Maybe he will reveal this source? Ed
