The Enemy Within.. This is the first war fought where the death of each American soldier is reported in all detail available, to the entire Nation, with photos,on a half-hour basis 24-7. From the first embedded reporters going from the Kuwaiti desert to Baghdad. To tear down Saddams statue. War is hell, and we must fight, but The Public is deluged, swamped, and very very tired of hearing the same repetitious bad news over and over again. We are in a generally bad mood, and now we find we also have enemies within. People who will lie, present forged documents, and commit crimes to try to influence an election. The hounds are loose and hot on the trail of the villains- encouraged by good men rich or poor, by Newsmen whose reputations have been tarnished by the acts of one Network commentator. They will chase the villains into their filthy dens and clean up their nests. Dan Rather is toast and there is lots more excitement to come. Sig
