Why does the inimitable Nadine (who is smarter than anybody but Thomas P.M. Barnett) disagree?

Admittedly our empire doesn't look exactly like the British Empire, or even the Roman Empire, or the Ottoman Empire, but then, empires are funny things. They aren't all exactly the same.

We're just getting going. I predict (always Cassandra but what can you do?) three or four more HUNDRED years.

As your reading assignment I'd love for you to read up how the Greeks and the ancient Jews tried to act as counterweights to the Roman Empire but actually wound up reinforcing it.

It doesn't matter whether we like it or not. It is. It just is.
