One example of "tribute" is cheap goods from China and other Asian countries. We get cheap goods from China etc. because the Pax Americana makes oil cheap.

Another reason for "cheap goods" is the cheapness of the American dollar. If you don't believe that, ask Kyros L. and Jay Chen (we call them bears). They will tell you that the American dollar is artificially cheap, and it cannot remain so.

Others (we call them bulls) say that the dollar is cheap because it is the world's strongest currency, and that is because the United States is the world's strongest economy.

I don't see a material difference between these assertions, just in how they predict the future.
