Rather has demonstrated many times that he is smarter than this. I can't understand how he allowed himself to get in so deep, unless it was from pressure from someone else like his producer or his loyal followers. His apology is still a question in my mind. It had the sound and feel of sincerity but lacked substance. Sorry for what? That he blew the story, failed to move the election in the direction his followers wanted, promoted something that was not truthful, got caught with his pants down, was wrong about his story, what? We can all speculate but he needs to be the one who owns this apology by giving it substance.
