Are statistics too slow to be of any use?

A PC in Brazil, has the circuit board printed in Taiwan, assembled in Singapore by Bangladeshis, shipped to Europe, taken from the ship in the Malacca Straight, by Indonesian pirates, sent on a North Korean ship to Italy, unloaded by Sicilian fishermen, send to Panama, and entered Brazil via Paraguay by some Lebanese traders.

How a statistician is going to quantify that shit?

1) metrics for the deficit and for many more economic statisctis may be wrong or perhaps even useless.

2) The money is not in the material, it is in the blue print and in the software.

3) Service are much much more difficult to capture than iron and printed circuit boards.

4) You sell information and you still have it.
