<I just don't think it is very presidential to make remarks about how "Bush mortgaged our future" in the context of a joke. Had he said, "Listen, it is my view that Bush has mortgaged our future with this horrid war", that would have been different.>

Of course these are serious matters but does anyone on the right have a sense of humor? Take it for what it is or does the right still consider Jeff Foxworthy the standard?

Bush has taken potshots and cracks at Kerry, so what? Bush should do the talk show circuit if he wants to connect with an audience that is more than NASCAR family :-). Remember, he is supposed to be a uniter not a divider.

David, try and keep a sense of humor. When Bush appeared on Jay Leno in 2000, Jay pulled out a Bush Halloween mask and asked him about it. Bush replied, "This is scarier," and put on an Al Gore mask.

It's just meant to be fun. Sure, there's also politics behind the appearances, but I doubt anyone will mistaken Kerry for a stand-up comedian, much less your "average Joe."

Besides, if this election turns into "Last Comic Standing," Kerry wouldn't stand a chance. ;-)

The way Bush mortgaged our future is more of a tragedy.

It's really going to be bad for the grandchildren.
