Tim, Digitimes is not the most credible site. It is just a datapoint, that may or may not be right. As far as K8 shipments, 600,000 for Q3 is very low, IMO. My recollection is that the Q1 shipments were somewhere 400,000 to 600,000. I think K8 is > 1 million this quarter. I hope we will get something from AMD, to get at least a ballpark. Joe

Dear Tim: Since someone said that Opteron server shipments are up triple digits and Q2 server shipments were over 60K, that means that Q3 server shipments are well past 120K or about 250K Opterons (server unit share of 6 to 9% depending on the definition). Add in the brisk laptop A64 business and you are probably well past 500K in non desktop K8 shipments. That places overall 64 bit K8s at well over 1.1 million. That is more than $300 million in revenue for 64 bit alone. Q3 K8 server revenue may exceed that of Itanium's given the growth rates. For Q4, adding another million desktop Athlon 64s with continuing server and laptop growth may pit overall 64 bit K8 at over 2.5 million units at higher than K7 revenue (don't know where to place 32 bit K8 Semperon revenue, either as K8s or with K7 as more 32 bit). Pete
