Re: Mr. Bush might have done better at wooing broader international support if he had spent less time on self-justification and scolding and more on praising the importance of international cooperation and a strengthened United Nations.

LOL!

PRAISING the United Nations? For what?

An oil for food program which gave Saddam over $10B?

Corrupt high-ranking UN people taking bribes?

An organization which ignored Iraq's violations, and is now ignoring Iran and North Korea?

An organization which ignored Rwanda 10 years ago, and now is ignoring the Sudan?

Kofi Annan needs to retire.....he should be embarassed by the performance of the organization under his watch.

FWIW, 2 years ago in Nepal I had breakfast with a UN worker who just came out of Afghanistan. He said UN supplies CONSISTENTLY were the last to reach the people who needed them, and called the organization the most corrupt he had ever seen. The only reason he remained on board was the 10K a month salary. The world needs the UN, but NOT in its current form.....there needs to be drastic change there.

Another FWIW.....only about 50 of the almost 200 member nations are democracies, so who are they to lecture us?
