Actually, it is very likely that Burkett set himself up for humiliation, given that he's got a king-sized axe to grind with Bush.

You contradict yourself. A king-sized axe calls for caution and craftyness, not a sudden rash writup of memos on his home PC. I have no doubt that Burkett wanted to get these memos out to hurt Bush, but that only leads to the conclusion that he must have thought they would accomplish that task, which they would only do if he thought they were genuine.

And calling the effort "amateurish" is a rather audacious thing to say now, given how many liberals were initially in denial over the forgeries. Perhaps that's an even better reason to believe the Rove conspiracy theory, because the alternative would be to admit being suckered by a liberal partisan running Microsoft Word.

You keep forgetting that while the memos might be forgeries, the content was not according to Killian's secretary. So why are you continuing to carry on about the forged memos? Are you after the truth or simply playing partisan politics?

Tenchusatsu,
the Gore campaign said Burkett tried to sell the same lie in 2000 and they were not dumb enough to fall for it.

That says a lot about why kerry has no business even being dog catcher....
