After Gore and now Kerry, I doubt any Vietnam Vet will ever get a chance at living in the White House.

Durn, that Kerry spoiled my plans.

Regarding Roger Simon's concern that the panel members are too old, I would respond that surely, they will have a budget for staff. If not, I would agree with the age concern.

Of more concern to me is the appointment of an influential member of the press with a known bias against the Bush administration.

During the Feb 2001 Congressional hearings into news organizations calling the election early and wrong, AP CEO Louis Boccardi had this to say:

"I first want to place on the record a deep concern about the nature and scope of the [Congressional] committee's inquiry into decisions made by journalists in the course of gathering and reporting the news. AP has serious doubts that the committee and its staff no matter how sensitive they may be can avoid crossing the line between appropriate government concern with the electoral process itself, and on the other hand, inappropriate government involvement with the reporting on that process by a free press."

This doesn't sound like a man who would want to dig out the truth about RAthERGate. His specialty will be to focus on the "system", not to uncover the culpability and collusion of the people involved, e.g., Rather, the DNC, and those assigned to the "newly reorganized and energized" Kerry Campaign.
