What about it? An Al Gore stupid utterance doesn't make what the LtC in the article said a lie.

Sorry, sandi, but occasionally our interests DO coincide with UN wishes and it IS reasonable for us to participate in UN-backed military action. That DOES NOT mean we cede sovereign authority to the UN every time we send in peacekeepers under the UN banner. It also DOES NOT mean that the UN can order US troops into action - only the CiC can do that. If a given proposed UN action is not in our interests, not only will the POTUS NOT order our troops to participate, our UN Ambassador will exercise our veto power over the empowering security council resolution.

BTW, do you really expect me to take seriously a site that calls NATO "a regional subsidiary of the UN"?

PS: General caveat - the above assumes John Kerry is never POTUS.
