Bush knows he's sliding back down based on the TRUTH, so the typical Karl Rove counter-attack is to put out a carpet-bombing wave of lies, innuendos, false promises, smoke screens, excuses and scare tactics. These include Cheney trying to make Kerry sound like a terrorist sympathizer and the SmearVets (now squarely working under the RNC) trying to revive the ridiculous old Jane Fonda accusations based on one photo of them in the same audience together. This is exactly what the Nazis or Soviets would have done to try and smear an opponent. LIE.
