Well, on top of everything else, the alleged vetters
at CBS should have inquired as to the chain of custody
of those documents and their provenance.

That's just the starting point for determining authenticity.
I seem to focus on that aspect more than others.

I guess it's borne of courtroom experience.

I couldn't imagine trying to authenticate a document
without a witness with personal knowledge and without
some evidence as to its origins and chain of custody.
