..Carl Sagan taught the literate in his "Cosmos" series.

I'm sorry I didn't read Cosmos. I did see the movie based on his novel and listen to some of his Congressional testimony on space aliens. He seems to have been an atheist, down on religion, but a believer in space aliens. Wise, "scientific" space aliens, naturally.
