"price and cost increases" used repeatedly over and over, so why do you make any distinction about who loses the most? And are you saying inflation has no impact when consumers start to give up products they are used to using?

You seem to have lost the main point and attacked side issue of substitution. The main point is this: Coke lost market share by raisng price. Colgate did not raise prices at all, and GM in spite of rising steel and energy costs is lowering prices and offering 0% financing for 6 years. People are finally balking over higher home prices. All on a mere 3/4 point hike.

Those are hardly inflationary concerns.
