I have had many friends who have had their lives and careers ruined by lawyers that specialize in perverting the truth.

The whole point of the Martha Stewart case is that truth and justice have nothing to do with jury verdicts. Politics and publicity have everything to do with them.

>> I've read about cases numerous times in the past 20 years where family members and friends have had to give back money made (and sometimes receive convictions) for trading on insider information. I really don't know how this case differs. <<

The way this case differs is that Martha Stewart was never charged with trading on insider information. On top of that the judge threw out the charge of securities fraud.

She was convicted of:
- Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice
- Two counts of False Statements
- Obstruction of Justice
