Ali, you're FOS, as usual. Perhaps you could:

(1) read his post correctly, re: 35W applying to the 2GHz Mobile Oakville

(2) explain how they measured the temperatures in the HKEPC review-- where did they put the sensor?

(3) notice the die size of Prescott 109mm^2 vs. Winchester 84 mm^2, and understand what that means in terms of power vs. temperature

Is that really so much to ask?

Dear Ali:

The cooler used was the plain 3D rocket cooler, not the Pro in the review. 2nd, the test ran at 2500rpm to 4000rpm which the pro runs at where as the plain runs 1900rpm to 3000rpm. When you look at the pro 57 at 4000 to 64 at 2500 and using the curves of the fans, you find that 2000/4000rpm should be 60% greater difference than 2500/4000% or 68.6C from the 22C ambient. Also, it is unclear from the text if the shroud was removed during testing as they said it lowered temps by an additional 2C on average.

Of course that assumes that the ambients are identical, the measure point and the probe position. In the lower review all three were kept constant between the coolers. In the upper, those pieces were not kept the same. The the probe occludes more of a 84mm2 die than a 144mm2 die for example. They could have used the core diode, but didn't, unlike the lower review.

Lastly, CPU burn 4 was used by the A64s vs Prime95/PCdrug on the P4s a lower CPU power user.
