Burkett seems to be holding a hole card -his conversation with Mc Auliffe which could be damaging.
Then IMO, he is trying to send people off on a wild goose chase by the invention of a Ms Ramirez .

I would not believe a word that came out of Burkett's mouth. However it is enjoyable to see him go after Lockhart, et al. You will notice that this whole thing, Bush/Rather/Mapes/Burkett, is a "Texas War."

I am going to have to go read the liberal sage of Texas, Molly Ivins, to see her take on this. She has to be fit to be tied to see Rather/Mapes go down. Both are long time friends of hers.

Edit: I just read Molly's last three columns. Not a peep about the subject.

Perhaps the FBI gets involved, but Bush is wise enough to keep quiet and to stay away from the beach if there is dead whale lying there.

What makes you think the FBI is not already involved?

They don't make it a practice of publicizing their investigations.
