Taikun:

Whatever the Canadians decide we have to have an exit strategy. If we are forced to divest it could result in short term termporary price depression.

I would think a rational response by the trusts would be to go the dual route and forcing out enough of the the US owners to get under the 49% level in order of purchase date.

I am considering selling some of the trusts I own and converting the money into striaght Candian Oil stock plays. Suncor for example.

In the US there would be legal challenges available in the field of equitable remedies due to the "detrimental reliance" of US shareholders on the previously announced date of 2007, but I don't have a clue how this would play out in Canada.

The onlyl thing that might help us--is if the trusts have enough politcal clout to stall the earlier implemtation. But I think granting more Canadians access to lower price trust shares would be a popular political move that would outweigh the Trusts' influence..

I am not counting on being able to stay invested in these. I think one should start planning a divestment strategy.
