"Ignore font sizes" and "ignore font styles" works for me. Using IE, click Tools >Internet Options >General >Accessibility (lower right hand button).

I used to try this when I had a smaller screen and it looked horrible, everything was all jammed up, but it's good for this wide screen on my laptop. Which, by the way, weighs a ton.

And my 55 gig hard drive already has 45 gig of "stuff" and I've only had it since January!

But it does have a CD burner so I will offload!

My younger son just got a little gadget that you attach to USB port for data, it's no bigger than your little finger. He uses it for CS class as "sneaker net" between school and home, and it works great.

Older son shleps laptop of his own. It's only 15 inches but even heavier than mine due to super powerful video stuff and even bigger hard drive.

Was looking at a tiny under 4 lb Vaio with longing earlier this week, just for travelling. I carry 17 inch laptop and tiny Cannon printer and two "bricks" (transformers) and radio mouse transmitter and radio mouse in a litigation "briefcase" to court and outside meetings, it's a struggle, but just got one with rollers. Worse than carrying a purse! Going through metal detectors is a nightmare.

At least the cell phone is tiny. But it has a camera so I cannot take into ANY court. Federal courts don't even allow phones, period, nor PDAs nor laptops. State courts allow everything but camera phones. Little do they know that my laptop has a video camera! Just a tiny round hole in the metal.

At class last week, woman on left and man on right, both federal employees, had Blackberries. I want one! Not that my email load justifies it.

Afghan Candidates Stump for Peaceful Vote
abcnews.go.com

KABUL, Afghanistan Oct. 1, 2004 — Afghanistan's vice president urged his countrymen Friday to participate in historic presidential elections, saying a failed vote could lead to renewed war and bloodshed in a nation that has endured both for decades.

Karim Khalili told about 2,000 people at a Shiite mosque that the Oct. 9 election was a major step toward bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan, but he gave no specifics on what President Hamid Karzai would do with five more years in power.

"All Afghan people should participate in the election. If they don't, I'm sure those who favor war and all the problems of the past will prevail," said Khalili, who is also a Shiite Muslim and a member of the nation's Hazara ethnic community.
